The October exhibition《The Story Rewritten: Sokcho-ri》marks both an end and a new beginning. The memories, traces and conversations gathered from the five previous exhibitions are woven into one narrative.
Held in and around the village hall and the senior centre, the exhibition recalls the scenery and voices of Sokcho-ri through the ideas of place and speech, recording the memories of a village that will not fade.
To rewrite a story is not to restore the past, but to add a new language upon it. Here residents, artists and visitors share their stories and, together, rewrite their own Sokcho-ri.
‘2025 Monthly Yeonggwimi’ thus completes one cycle while opening a door to what comes next. The story that began in Sokcho-ri now expands across Yeonggwimi, asking again about the place — and the meaning — of the names we live within.
The village hall and the senior centre are where the people of Sokcho 1-ri gather most often. Sharing meals, passing on news, spending the day together — these rooms have been the centre through which the village’s speech travels. That the exhibitions scattered across the village for five months finally gathered here means, too, that the scattered stories return to the place of the people.
The exhibition extended beyond the interiors into the surrounding alleys and walls, the storehouse and even the toilet, so that the whole of the village’s everyday space became the venue.
The final month opens with a map and a text, a stamp tour and a guestbook. Visitors walk the village following the traces of six exhibitions, collecting stamps and leaving in the guestbook the Sokcho-ri they remember.

The exhibitions held across the village over five months gather again in the village hall and the senior centre. Towels and bracken from the laundry site, acrylic and ceramics from the stationery store, canvases and collected fragments from the bus stop, video and a tent from Ggumteul, soil and vegetables from Yeongdeungpo — all placed together and woven into a single narrative.
From Jaewon Hwang’s<Chatter Travels Through the Laundry Bat>to Yeji Kim’s coloured-pencil works, this final exhibition brings together eight artists and two collaborators.

The outcomes of six related programmes — held every month except May — are shown alongside photographs from the Hongcheon Elementary School photography club, which ran from May to October. Records made by residents, teenagers and children sit beside the artists’ works, showing with whom this project was made.
